BBlacksburg A Creative Place Logolacksburg, known by many as A Creative Village is steadily transforming into Southwest Virginia’s premier arts and culture destination. With unique storefront galleries, the historic Lyric Theatre, outdoor gathering and performance areas, and the Moss Arts Center for the Arts at Virginia Tech, there is no shortage of arts related activities in this university town.

In addition to the town’s various visual and performing arts venues, cultural opportunities, and historic landmarks such as the Alexander Black House, St. Luke and Odd Fellows Hall, and Smithfield Plantation, there is also a multitude of regional organizations committed to serving the area’s arts and cultural interests.

Some of these include the Blacksburg Partnership Collaborative for the Arts, the New River Heritage Coalition, and the Blacksburg Regional Art Association (BRAA), a membership organization of artists and arts enthusiasts who come together to share their artworks, ideas, and enthusiasm. The organization also sponsors exhibits, classes and other arts related events. BRAA's office is located in the Community Arts Information Office (CAIO) at 135 College Ave. next the the Lyric Theatre. The CAIO fosters and promotes arts and culture in the New River Valley by providing: visibility for regional arts organizations; information on arts and cultural events; space to share resources, build networks, and facilitate communication. In the CAIO you will find information on arts and cultural happenings throughout the region, rotating gallery shows, office space for not for profit organizations and community meeting space.
